Radiation Oncology:
I have thoroughly enjoyed working closely with Atlantic Health Solutions in regards to the development and implementation of the Tomotherapy Center at the University of Colorado Denver. The Tomotherapy Center has really allowed us, through the integration of elegant software and sophisticated hardware, along with our very experienced dosimetry and physics staff, to deliver extremely precise and conformal radiation for my patients with head and neck and prostate cancer. We have been able to go beyond the strict dose constraints we have in place for normal tissue exposure in the pelvis and head and neck to push radiation doses to a high level without any increase in toxicity. In fact, based on the Tomo technology, we have actually been able to dose paint various parts of the prostate, such as the peripheral zones to different doses than the areas around the urethra.
